In the last week of June events of the First Annual Giving Festival for the Disabled Persons took place in Sana’a governorate which was organized with the collaboration of MTN GSM Company (Yemen).

Over 4 days the festival included a number of speeches and symposia, aiming at delivering the message of the disabled to the society that they are completely able to give, produce, and contribute to the development process of their society.

During the Festival which was attended by the Culture Deputy Minister (for Theater Division) Najeeba Haddad and the Secretary General of the Capital Secretariat’s Local Council Naji Jama’an, the Work and Social Affairs Deputy Minister Ali Saleh Abdullah affirmed that Challenge Association is one of the pioneering organizations in the field of rehabilitating the disabled, indicating this association will soon launch, with the collaboration of the Disabled Welfare Fund, the Challenge City Project for the Disabled Persons.

This city will include 20 facilities serving 10 thousands of the disabled persons. He also noted the role the private sector institutions are playing in supporting the disabled, especially MTN Yemen which always sponsors various activities and events within the framework of its social responsibility.

Mr. Ali Saleh Abdullah also called on all other companies to emulate MTN Yemen in order to effectively contribute to the society in supporting the disabled.

Moreover, two speeches were delivered in behalf of both Challenge Association and the Disabled Welfare Fund, and indicated that the festival is but a message of 30 million disabled persons across the country sent to whom it may concern and states that the disabled person is able to participate and contribute to building the society, but needs, in the first place, to be supported sufficiently.

The speeches also indicated that Challenge Association is one of the best quality associations in the field of disabilities and, since inception (1998), takes upon itself to provide preeminent free services in all aspects for this category in the entire country.

During the festival enchanting songs were performed and a play which displayed the disabled person’s real challenges The Director of Education Bureau in the Capital Secretariat Mohammed al-Fadhli and MTN representatives attended the opening ceremony.
